Kennedy earned an NCAA berth after winning the platform title at the NCAA Zone C Championships. Cole Young had an impressive showing at the Big Ten Championships, scoring in all three events including a ninth place finish on the 1-meter board and platform. Kennedy also finished fourth on the platform at the Big Ten Championships. John Schmidt also performed well under Baumann's tutelage, scoring in all three events. Overall, Baumann coached the Gophers to six scoring performances at Big Tens in 2006.

During Baumann's tenure in Bloomington, the Hoosiers won four combined team U.S. National Championships and four women's U.S. National Championships. At the 2005 Men's and Women's Big Ten Championships, three Indiana divers earned first-team All-Big Ten honors. Marc Carlton also earned Big Ten Diver of the Year and first-team All-Big Ten honors.

Along with his Division I experience, Baumann was also involved in both the Indiana Diving Club and the Indiana Diving Academy. With the diving club, Baumann served as the junior team head coach and was the assistant coach of the senior team. In his career, Baumann has coached a three-time Junior National champion, eight Junior National qualifiers, 25 Zone qualifiers and two Olympic Trial qualifiers.

In 1999, Baumann became the head diving coach at the University of Wyoming. In his two years in Laramie, eight divers made the finals at the Mountain West Conference Championships. In 2000 he coached the men's conference platform champion, and in 2001 he was named the Mountain West Men's Diving Coach of the Year after all but one of his divers was a finalist in all three events.

A native of Lincoln, Neb., Baumann won the Nebraska State High School Championship his junior season and was a two-time high school All-American. Following his high school career, Baumann was a four-year team captain for Indiana, a five-time Big Ten Championship finalist and was runner-up in the platform event in 1993. As a senior, Baumann qualified for the NCAA Championships and earned All-America honors in the platform. Matt Sherman

After suffering a leg injury during a middle school wrestling match, Matt Sherman began diving as a therapeutic measure under the tutelage of Chris Whritenour.  In 1990 he learned the fundamentals of the sport under R. Scott Smith and went on to win the Rookie of the Year award at the State Championships in 1990-91.

Sherman earned two all-state awards, four all-conference awards, and was undefeated in two dual-meet prep seasons during his career at Osseo Sr. High School.  He set a six-dive one-meter all-time record with a score of 262 and was named the first team captain in his team’s history.  In the offseason, Sherman continued to train for Twin City Divers and earned four State meet first-place finishes and earned gold on both one- and three-meter at the Thunder Bay Invitational.

In 1994 Sherman began his collegiate career at Gustavus Adolphus, but took his freshman year away from the boards to concentrate on academics.  However, in 1995 he got back on the boards and dove without a coach for two years in the MIAC and won all by one dual meet.  Continuing a trend, Sherman was also the only team captain at Gustavus where he set the all-time records on both the one- and three-meter boards.  He qualified for Nationals each year, but was not funded to attends since he was the only qualifying diver.  He finished his collegiate career as the coach for the men’s and women’s teams at Gustavis until he returned to Twin City Divers under Mike Martens as he prepared to move to Australia.

Sherman graduated from Gustavus with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology and Chemistry in 1999.  He currently works at the U of M medical school in Neurology as an assistant scientist studying protein assemblies and how they relate to Alzheimer’s disease and neuro-cognitive decline.
